SUPERS RETURN TO KALAMAZOO MAY 29 AFTER 17-YEAR ABSENCE
May 22, 2021 – The Midwest Supermodified Series (MSS) today revealed early entries for next weekend’s event as part of the inaugural American Speed U.S. Nationals at Kalamazoo Speedway. The May 28-29 event will also feature the Must See Racing Sprint Series presented by Engine Pro and the Maxima Racing Oils Midwest Lights Series.
The MSS Supermodifieds will be on the Saturday May 29 racing card. It will be the first appearance of Supermodifieds at Kalamazoo Speedway since June 11, 2004 when the “Dion Parish Memorial 30” was held. Parish was a local Supermodified driver who lost his life at the track in a practice crash the previous fall. Moe Lilje won that last event nearly 17 years ago.
Despite not having Supermodifieds in recent years, Kalamazoo Speedway was once a hotbed for the division during the 1970’s through mid-1990’s. Kalamazoo Speedway was once an annual stop on the ISMA schedule. Numerous unsanctioned events have been contested at Kalamazoo Speedway over the years as well.
Among early entries for this event include six-time Oswego Classic winner Greg Furlong in the Jeff West owned #1. Other early entries include 2018 ISMA champion Kye Edwards and former MSS champions Trent Stephens and Mike McVetta.
Other drivers expected include Cord Ehrhart, Jonathon Lesiecki, Talon Stephens, JJ Henes, JD Evans, Rich Reid, Bobby Watkins, Jim Paller, AJ Lesiecki, and Larry Lehnert. Additional entries will be revealed once they are finalized leading up to next weekend’s event.
For those unable to make this event it is being offered as a Pay-Per-View live streamed through www.mustseeracing.tv for $19.99 per night or $24.99 for both nights.
