TYLER GETS SECOND PAY LESS LITTLE 500 VICTORY

ANDERSON, Ind. (May 26, 2012) – Deuces were wild at the 64th running of the Pay Less Little 500 as Brian Tyler recorded his second win and brought team owner Larry Contos win number two at Anderson Speedway.

Tyler took the lead on lap 342 and led the final 158 circuits winning by one lap over rookie of the year Billy Wease.

With 13 laps remaining Tyler was running in close quarters behind Wease and in front of a charging Chet Fillip. But showing the experience of a veteran he backed out of the throttle to claim the win.

Tyler drove with a lot of patience early in the race and stayed among the front-runners throughout the 500-lap grind. As problems beset other teams, Tyler used the right pit strategy to take the point from Aaron Pierce, who was battling a leaking right rear tire.

“The last three or four years we’ve had a fast car and had motor problems,” he said. “This year I was playing the numbers game, I’m 44 and I drove the 44. Everything happened to work my way for once.”

Tyler said starting back in the field (15th), he needed a lot of patience and rode for a lot of laps.

“At the end they told me no one else was on the lead lap, so I just took it easy,” he said. “This race is never over until the checkered flag waves.”

Pierce was forced to pit on lap 372, which saw his hopes of the Little 500 victory dashed. Pierce was using an air-jack similar to what is used in the IZOD IndyCar Series and a clutch to speed up his pit stops.

Tyler’s first win game in 2006 and Contos won in 2008 with Shane Cottle at the wheel.
2012 little 500 winnerIt proved to be an exceptional night for drivers from Noblesville with Wease coming home in second and Brian Gerster driving to a third place finish after starting 29th. Chet Fillip and Pierce rounded out the top five.

“I can’t say enough about the car,” Wease said. “The car was so well prepared by Jerry Powell. We had a chance of winning it, the car was too loose at the end.”

Gerster said his car got better after each pit stop and credited his team for great stops, changing rear tires both times.

“The car was loose on the front run, but once we got new tires on it was better,” he said. “I think I passed the most cars tonight, but we had no problems.

“If you would have told me earlier in the week that I’d finish third, I would have taken it,” Gerster said.

Eric Gordon looking for his tenth Little 500 win led from lap 278 to lap 329 when he stopped for his final required pit stop. But it knocked him out of contention when the crew had problems getting the right rear tire off the car and he lost five laps to the leader.

California driver JoJo Helberg dominated the first quarter of the race, running away from the field at the start and on several restarts.

His night ended on lap 121 when Shauna Hogg got slightly airborne on the back straight, bringing out the caution for debris. As cars bunched up, Helberg made heavy contact with the back straight wall.

Chet Fillip led over 110 laps in the middle stages of the race, but a series of pit stops to repair an apparent suspension problem left him three laps behind the leaders.

Pole sitter Tony Hunt’s night ended on lap 113 with a mechanical problem and Warsaw’s Tony Elliott lost laps early in the race following a lengthy stop on lap 24 with an engine problem.

It was a tough night for drivers from Madison County with Alexandria’s Donnie Adams Jr. getting collected in a three car tangle on the back straight on lap 71. Anderson’s Jim Sheets ended the night on the turn two wall on lap 263. Travis Welpott was involved in two spins, finishing 17th.

There were 14 cautions for 151 laps, but most were caused by single car incidents. There were six lead changes among five different drivers.

BLONDE GETS ON TRACK TO WIN MUST SEE RACING 60

Anderson, IN - May 23, 2012 - Jason Blonde got a break on lap 27 and never looked back as he won his first TRUFUEL Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series win of the year Wednesday night at Anderson Speedway. Blonde was driving the Suellen Wilshe owned BIOBASED.US Hurricane chassis car. Blonde was the fourth different winner in as many events in 2012 MSRXSS compettition.

The evening began in exciting fashion as California driver Jo Jo Helberg established a new track record with a lap of 10.168 seconds. This was a remarkable feat considering the excess heat and high humidity. Heat wins went to Tom Tolbert, Jimmy McCune, and Travis Miniea.

The front row of the 60 lap feature found BIOBASED.US teammates Jason Blonde and Tanner Swanson sharing the front row. Tanner Swanson got the jump at the start and lead the opening 27 laps. Blonde was all over Swanson in the early laps as Swanson was slowed by lapped traffic. Swanson gave way to Blonde on lap 27 when he was sidelined with apparent mechanical issues. Blonde then led the remainder of the event to capture his first MSRXSS victory of the season. Following Blonde was Kody Swanson, Troy DeCaire, Jo Jo Helberg, and Ryan Gillenwater rounding out the top five.

" I was able to catch Tanner in lapped traffic " explained Blonde in victory lane. " I got beside him and he pulled me. I wasn't sure if I could've gotten around him if he hadn't broke. I saw something going wrong with his right rear tire. After that I knew I could get the lead. Then I was waiting for something bad to go wrong with my tire. Its a good win for the BIOBASED #23 car ".Blonde explained how important the win was for his after getting off to a rough 2012 start. " Its been a tough way to start the year with three DNF's. It makes you wonder why you do it sometimes. As soon as you get that win, you know why your doing it ".

A dejected Swanson explained why he was forced out of the race on lap 27." We had a radius rod bolt back out of the right rear bird cage. Its disappointing. We had a really great car. I was rolling around saving my tires, picking off lapped cars as they came to me. I had the car to pick up my second Must See win ".

Must See Racing now will put its focus on the 64th annual Pay Less Little 500 Saturday night. Must See Racing is the sanctioning body of the Little 500. The event will be a special non-points event. Several MSRXSS teams are entered in the event.

PALLER & DeCaire WIN WINCHESTER MUST SEE EVENTS

Winchester, IN - May 20, 2012 - The inagural ' Xtreme Speed Challenge ' was a heated affair both on and off the track. With temperatures in the high 80's, a good crowd was on hand to witness the TRUFUEL Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series and BIOBASED.US Must See Racing Super Modified Series.

The Supermodifieds were making their first appearance at Winchester in nearly twenty-two years. Mexico, New York driver, Michael Barnes lead the way in MSRSMS time trials with a lp of 14.027 seconds to capture the $1000 bonus courtesy of BIOBASED.US.

Kyle Edwards used a front row starting spot to grab the lead and led the majority of the 30-lap event. Quick qualifier Michael Barnes, who had been on top of the speed charts all weekened, saw his race come to and end when his race came to an end when he made contact with Larry Lehnert on the backstretch early in the race. Paller began his charge to the front and was all over race leader Edwards. Paller made the pass on Edwads just as Edwards slowed due to mechanical issues. Pau White and Paller then put on a thrilling battle for several laps until White was also sent to the pits with mechanical issues. The win was anything but easy for Paller and was worth $6000 for the Berlin Heights, Ohio driver. " When we first started out the car was loose " explained Paller. " The car started getting better and better. I saw Kyle was fading. I drove under Kyle in three and four.on the outside and that was it. We got lucky. This is awesome. This is the first Supermodified win I've had. To have the win here with Must See Racing is just awesome " concluded Paller.
Jim Paller Wins Must See Racing Xtreme Speed Challenge - Super Modified Series at Winchester Speedway
The Must See See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series feature event was equally as entertaining. California driver, Jo Jo Helberg, set a new World's Record for a 1/2 mile speedway when he turned a scortching lap of 12.669 seconds. 6 drivers in all were under the old Winchester Speedway track record. A hard charging Troy DeCaire battled his way into the lead before lap 5 and began to set sail. Helberg slowly worked his way to the front. The race was red flagged twice for two seprate events.  Prior to lap 20, Mike Larrison tried to avoid a spinning Jason Cox in turn four and his machine rocketed into the pit entrance off turn four. When the race resumed, Jason Blonde began to run down DeCaire but got high exiting turn four and the car went flying through the pit entrance in the same exact place Larrison did moments earlier. Luckily no one was injured. When the green flad flew on lap 21, Helberg made a daring pass on DeCaire for the lead. DeCaire then retook the lead two laps later and never looked back. The win was also worth $6000 for DeCaire. ' I was watching my guys down the straight-away.I was trying to keep the car straight " explained DeCaire. " My motor bobbled late in the race and it allowed Jo Jo to get around me. He got by me but when he went by me I could see his right rear tire was chunking up and he was sliding. He was using it a little bit more than we were. With 8 laps to go,he began backing up to me. I got back by him. It was a good win for us and a nice payday.
