MCCUNE MOTORSPORTS TO ONLY FIELD TWO CARS AT US NATIONALS
May 25, 2022 – McCune Motorsports will play a big part in the weekends 2nd annual American Speed U.S. Nationals at Kalamazoo Speedway this Friday and Saturday May 27-28. But the team will only bring two cars at this year’s race due to engine woes at the last Must See Racing events in South Boston, Virginia last month. The team will still be just as potent none-the-less.
McCune Motorsports has won every single Must See Racing National Touring Series presented by Engine Pro championship for the past 6 seasons dating back to 2018, with drivers Jimmy McCune and Anthony McCune. The team is off to a great start in 2022 with driver Jacob Dolinar sitting 4th in points.
Meridian, Idaho driver Colton Nelson was slated to be behind the wheel of a third McCune car this weekend, joining Dolinar and Jimmy McCune. Nelson is no stranger to winged asphalt sprint car competition. He is a former Speed Tour champion and the defending ‘Pink Lady Classic’ champion after he pocketed $20,000 for winning the event last September. Nelson was set to make his first MSR start this weekend. Nelson will now join the team later sometime this season.
McCune is having the worst start of his MSR career after a pair of DNF’S at South Boston last month as its still early in the 2022 season. “I think I can make up some ground but it’s gonna be tough. I’m not worrying about the championship. I just wanna get my stuff running and rolling right. I am looking forward to getting back in the car at Kalamazoo. It should be fun getting to run two nights this year instead of one like we did last year due to the rain”.
The McCune Motorsports team McCune and Dolinar will have its work cut out for it as they will face a very stout lineup of drivers at the American Speed U.S. Nationals. Some very big names have already entered including Jason Blonde, Ryan Litt, Joe Liguori, and Charlie Schultz among many others.
The weekend kicks off Friday night with a complete racing program that also includes the Maxima Racing Oils Midwest Lights Series. The racing action will continue the next night with another complete program on tap for the Must See Racing National Touring Series.
