MUST SEE RACING SET TO KICK OFF 2022 WITH A TRIP TO SOBO
April 26, 2022 – Must See Racing Sprint Series presented by Engine Pro is set to kick off the new season with a pair of events at South Boston Speedway this weekend April 29-30. It will be the first-time winged sprints have roared around the historic 4/10 mile, slightly banked speedway in South Boston, Virginia. It will also be the first time MSR has competed in the state of Virginia.
Two nights of full racing programs complete with 30-lap feature events both nights will be on tap with a full field of drivers representing seven states expected. Defending (2021) MSR champion Anthony McCune headlines a list that also includes three-time Little 500 champion Jeff Bloom, Five-time MSR champion Jimmy McCune, and home state Virginia driver Anthony Linkenhoker (MSR Drivers).
Must See Racing in an attempt to help teams compete this weekend despite high fuel costs, will be proving fuel subsidies thanks to sponsor Steadfast For Veterans. “To assist our race teams with today’s excessive travel/fuel cost our marketing partner Steadfast for Veterans decided to reallocate the weekends $2,000.00 STEADFAST FOR VETERANS CHALLEGE funds to a fuel subsidy for the race teams based on their travel distance. That’s the kind of cooperative partnership that makes our series and sport work, we really appreciate it” stated MSR president Jim Hanks. “It is a real honor to play our part getting the word out to race fans about their commitment to provide housing for homeless veterans and how the racing community can contribute to their worthy program” concluded Hanks.
This weekend’s inaugural ‘American Sprint Car Weekend’ won’t be the first-time sprint cars have roared around South Boston Speedway, but it will be the first time the powerful winged 410 sprint cars have graced the facility that opened in 1957. USAC non-wing sprint cars last raced at SOBO on October 13, 2001. Tracy Hines won that long ago event.
The existing all-time SOBO track record is all but certain to fall. Whenever MSR visits a new venue for the first time, the existing track record usually falls. MSR bills itself as having ‘The Fastest Short Track Cars in the World.’
Other drivers currently entered include Bobby Santos III, Joe Liguori, Tommy Nichols, Jacob Dolinar, Tim Henthorne, Rick Holley, Tom Jewell, Todd McQuillan, Mike McVetta, Johnny Petrozelle, Joshua Sexton, Charlie Schultz, and Joe Speakman to date.
The USAC Eastern midgets will also be on hand both nights offering open wheel fans a open wheel double header treat.
